Scholastic es el nombre de la editorial que publica los libros de Harry Potter y sus novelas complementarias en los Estados Unidos. Es la única compañía que ha publicado las novelas de J. K. Rowling en Inglés, además de Bloomsbury, la editorial original.
El 31 de julio de 2012 (el cumpleaños de Harry Potter), Scholastic lanzó un Club de Lectura de Harry Potter.[1]
Singularidad de los libros de Harry Potter de Scholastic
La principal diferencia entre las ediciones de Scholastic y Bloomsbury de los libros es las cubiertas y la ortografía (Scholastic utiliza la ortografía americana). Además, el título de la primera novela difiere entre las dos editoriales. Bloombsbury publicó la primera novela como Harry Potter y la Piedra Filosofal, mientras que en Estados Unidos la novela se publicó como Harry Potter y la Piedra del Hechicero. Otras, muy menores, diferencias de redacción se producen a lo largo de las ediciones de Scholastic, prefiriendo nomenclatura americana sobre la británica, como la palabra "soccer" en lugar de "fútbol" o "sweater" en lugar de "jumper". Además, el texto es un poco más grande y, a diferencia de Bloomsbury, al comienzo de cada capítulo hay una pequeña imagen ilustrada por Mary GrandPré.
Su logotipo, que se asemeja a un rayo, es diferente a la edición británica. Se utiliza después como el logotipo de la franquicia de películas.
